Sustainability Threshold Assessment (STA) to compare relative sustainability of waterside sites for regeneration in Medway

STA is a pragmatic assessment method to identify development constraints and suggest opportunities to resolve them through management options

Consultation with development agencies, local authorities and environmental regulators

Identification of regeneration priorities and programming in consideration of planning status and funding opportunities (domestic and European)

Identification of mitigation options, such as form and layout, for constraints associated with flood defence, biodiversity, transport and contaminated land

Assessment of social elements of sustainability, including benefits of regeneration and integration with existing communities

 

Pilot study for subsequent application to sites throughout the Thames Gateway
